Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Quartz Wellness and why should I come on the Vibrate Higher Wellness Retreat?
Quartz Wellness is a progressive well-being organization that provides coaching, workshops, events, retreats and positive online content for the nourishment of women and young adults who seek to flourish.
Who else will be there?
We attract positive, progressive, well-minded women, between the ages of 25 and 65, some younger and some older. These women come from the U.S., Caribbean, Europe and Africa seeking growth, inspiration, peace and good times. Although we are intentional about creating a space for women of color to feel celebrated, we welcome diversity and receive women of all backgrounds, races, colors and creeds.
How do I book my reservation?
Go to the Packages Page. Choose the package that best suites your needs and choose to pay in full or pay a deposit and sign up for the payment plan.
How does the payment plan work?
The payment plan option will redirect you to Moonclerk, the platform we use to set up your automated monthly payments. They are a secure site and you’ll be able to read all the terms and conditions before entering your payment information. If you would prefer a different form of payment, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll see what we can do.
What are my best flight options?
Discount airfares are hard to come by in April and the sales usually happen early. Try to plan ahead at least two months and set a “fare watcher” for your dates on your favorite ticket search sites to get the best airfare.
What’s the weather like in April in Costa Rica?
April is one of the best times of year to visit Costa Rica (which is why you should book your ticket as far in advance as possible). April is the end of the dry season. Unlike the very rainy, rainy season, there will be sunny skies and little to no rain. Temperatures are around 86-90 degrees farenheit in the daytime and around 73-78 degrees at night. It’s good to bring long sleeves for the night time as it can chilly in the mountains.
Wait, where is Alajuela, Costa Rica?!
Costa Rica is in Central America between Venezuela and Panama. Alajuela is in the Central Valley of Costa Rica outside of San Jose. Pura Vida Retreat Center and Spa is not located on the beach. As a matter of fact, it’s 2 hours from the beach. The good news is there’s a pool. The better news is that we’re doing the hot springs and so many other cool activities, you won’t miss the beach. The best news is that we’re going to survey everyone who plans to attend and if the majority want a beach day, we’ll coordinate a group trip to the beach. If the group decides not to go collectively, we can arrange for groups of 4 or more to have a beach trip on Friday, April 26th.
Does the hotel have Wifi?
What do I need to bring?
Your passport or you won’t get very far
You’ll need to bring warm weather clothes, but bring a light sweater or jacket for the night time
Sneakers and workout clothes
A hat if you’re sensitive to the sun
Watershoes or sandals with a grip for the hot springs
Money in small denominations to tip hotel crew and tour guides if you’re ever so kind
Bug repellant, although I never get many bites in Costa Rica
An all white outfit for Friday’s photo and Closing Night Celebration
What should I bring?
This is a loaded question. We wouldn’t worry about high heels on this trip, but you may want to bring a good book and your journal for down time. There are no televisions in the rooms, so you may want to bring an Ipad or tablet if you want to spend some of your time catching up on your shows or online. You could bring wine or spirits for your room if you like, but only the Luxe Suites have refrigerators, so you’ll have to get an ice bucket.
What’s up with the Spa?
The Spa offers a divine list of therapeutic healing treatments by some of the most sought after therapists in Central America. Treatments are not included in your package, but you can enter to win free treatments, so sign up for our mailing list and look out for our emails. A list of spa treatments available can be found HERE. You can reserve directly with the hotel. Please refer to the schedule to make sure your treatment doesn’t conflict with activities in which you’d like to participate.
Should I exchange my money for the local currency?
You don’t have to, but we recommend exchanging at least $30 or bringing small bills if you want to tip the kind people of Costa Rica who help you along the way. If you’re going to get body treatments at the spa, you should plan to bring money for tips.
What if I miss my flight?
We are not responsible for you missing your flight, but we will help make sure the hotel knows so that when you arrive, transportation is waiting to bring you to Pura Vida.
What if I have a food allergy, restriction or request?
We can most likely accommodate you. Just shoot us an email and let us know.
I’m a wellness expert, practitioner or business owner and I would like to discuss a collaboration. Who do I contact?
