What’s your superpower-that unique strength of yours that you would wear proudly across your chest? Are you purpose-driven? Do you have a growth mindset or a fixed mindset? Are you a learner of a judger? Can you show up in work, home and your social circle the way you want to? Who in your life can you count on, open up to and trust? How do you handle your negative emotions? How do you replenish yourself?

I hope you took a moment to actually answer the questions I just asked you. Your answers hold key elements to your life satisfaction.

According to studies, 1 in 10 people report depression, 1 in 20 people report major depression and women experience depression twice as often as men. We are living in trying times and over the last 120 years, women have quickly evolved beyond our age-old role of nurturers and homemakers into the workforce, putting us under more pressure than we’ve ever dealt with before.

Can you sometimes feel the tension in the air? It can be hard to be positive, happy and strong when we’re constantly bombarded with headlines, deadlines and annoying social media feeds. With suicides and ridiculous politicians topping the news, I’m moved to widely share the learnings from my research on finding and maintaining true happiness and how we can create a flourishing lifestyle and experience mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, financial and social well-being…or as we say, how we can “Live our best lives!!” Eowww!

I’m in the process of getting a certification in Applied Positive Psychology and studying to become an International Coaching Federation accredited certified personal and professional coach. I’m passionate about cultivating positivity, awareness and growth and I take from it as much as I give.

Now, more than ever, we must take good care of ourselves, know our worth, be willing to grow, be compassionate, aware and positive and have absolutely dope friends who help us be our best selves.

Do you love your life? Right now at this moment are you grateful for the “good” and the “bad" because it’s made you who you are today? Do you know your purpose? Do you have thrivingly amazing relationships with people you love and cherish and who love and cherish you?

And here is the qualifying question: DO YOU WANT TO DO BETTER?

If your answer is “no” then I would secretly side eye you and say you should probably stop reading this, but deep down I hope even that person would continue reading. The fact is, people are craving happiness and life satisfaction, but often not taking the time and doing the work that’s needed.

There is a lot to be happy for, but the struggles and trauma of adulthood can leave us feeling down and out. Happiness takes work, awareness, care and compassion. Creating a life you love takes intention, action and making sure you’re surrounded by good people.

I’m a 36 year-old dedicated mom, wife, business owner and purpose-driven socialite. There’s never a dull moment in life, but I’ve put a lifetime of work into learning how to balance, succeed, conquer limitations and thrive. I’m a work-in-progress, as we all are, but since my teenage years, I’ve been obsessed with books on personal and professional mastery, self-help and spirituality. I believe “WELLNESS” is the word for it now. I like that better than “SELF HELP”. Often times those of us that need the most help don’t realize it. But that’s not you because YOU are reading this post.

The truth is that we all need help and support to become our best selves. Living well from the inside out means taking care of mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and financial needs. We all need loving people in our lives to be happy. We all need balance and attention to self-care to avoid feeling depleted and worn the F out.

In this 9 part series of blog posts, titled “Flourish: A Progressive Woman’s Guide to Creating Joy, Fulfillment & Success in Life” I’ll be breaking down the study of positive psychology and the necessary skills needed to increase joy, authenticity, health and over-all well-being. I’ll sprinkle in stories of inspiring women, quotes, advice from some of my favorite authors and thought leaders, my own life experience, and some comic relief to keep it real and interesting.

We’ll be discussing the following:

Mindset: Cultivating optimism and mindfulness, practicing gratitude, establishing our truths, letting go of limiting beliefs, and resilience. Understanding our mind chatter. Steps for changing our mindset.

Happiness & Positivity: What does it mean to be truly happy? Making good use of positive and negative emotions. Understanding how cultural and personal trauma can affect our happiness. Practices to cope and overcome our traumas and sooth our souls. Exploring positive psychology and learning what we can do to increase life satisfaction.

Purpose: What are we really here for? What is purpose? How to find meaning. Examining our passions, strengths, skills, and experiences in the context of what we value. Creating a vision. Living a purpose-driven life.

Relationships: The vital importance of self-love, engagement, and good friends. Managing our emotions. Cultivating self-love. Will power and self-regulation. How social media affects us in real life. Communication and how to create thriving relationships.

Achievement: How we can use goal-setting, life-visioning, positive affirmations and affirmative prayer to manifest what we want in life. Creating habits that are aligned with what we want to achieve. Self-determination skills and how to fortify ourselves to reach our highest potential.

Gratitude & Acts of Kindness: Taking notice of our blessings. The difference between being kind and altruistic. How to express gratitude. How to be less self-centered and more “other-centered” (a top indicator of a truly happy person). The importance of volunteering and giving back.

Wealth & Prosperity: Understanding how spiritual and material wealth in our lives starts with our mindsets (unless you are a trust fund baby). I’ll share my findings on the keys to developing a millionaire (or even a billionaire) mindset. Interviews with female financial experts who will teach us how to manage money, budget, invest, plan for large purchases and retire comfortably (because we don’t want to work til we’re 80 unless we REALLY love what we’re doing).

Vitality: Understanding the mind-body connection. How dis-ease forms disease. How we can build a flourishing mind housed in a flourishing body. Exercise and physical well-being. How to cultivate healthy habits and lifestyle.

Flow & Flourish: Creating positive habits and rituals. Understanding what depletes us. Self-care and replenishment. Crystals, meditation, journaling and other tools to cultivate mindfulness and positive energy. How to stay motivated. Time management for superwomen who want to do it all. Establishing an optimal work-life balance. Finding a flow that allows us to flourish in every area of our lives.

It’s a lot to learn, but the benefits are endless!  In order to flourish—to have to cultivate well-being in every area of our lives. We must have awareness, compassion and care for ourselves and others.
 
So what’s in it for you?!

Studies show that happier people are healthier, look better, have less disease and stress, have more fulfilling relationships, are more satisfied with life, have superior performance and productivity and are more successful. #GOALS right?!! So let’s do this! Embark on this journey with me! But you may be wondering what makes me the Captain of the Happy Squad?!

As I mentioned earlier, I’m currently studying positive psychology and the science of flourishing under Emiliya Zhivotovskaya to receive a certification in Applied Positive Psychology through her CAPP Program at The Flourishing Center. Emiliya is a Master Certified Coach and holds a Masters Degree in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook University. She founded the Flourishing Center and the CAPP Program to increase the flourishing of individuals, organizations and communities worldwide. She’s an awesome teacher and has helped me put language and scientific proof behind the knowledge, skills and intuition I’ve gain in my 20 years of reading books on personal and professional mastery. I have a healthy obsession with learning as I’m on a never-ending journey of self-improvement and evolution. The knowledge, skills and exercises I’ll share with you have worked for me and empowered me to create a life I love.
